At Red Moon Wellness, we make our own organic oil blends and topical herbal liniments to help alleviate pain in muscles and soft tissues. With our founder, Lena DeGloma’s expertise as a clinical herbalist, she has crafted 7 unique blends that we make in house using organic or sustainably wild-harvested herbal extracts and essential oils in a base of coconut oil with no additives or preservatives.
Some of our favorite herbs used in our formulas include St John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) for nerve pain & inflammation, Solomon’s seal (Polygonatum multiflorum) for dry and inflamed ligaments, black cohosh (Actaea racemosa) for myofascial pain and tension, horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) to improve circulation and reduce edema, and frankincense (Boswellia serrata) for joint pain and inflammation.
All blends are pregnancy safe at a 1% dilution of essential oils and our Birth Prep Oil blend for use after 37 weeks contains clary sage (Salvia sclarea) and geranium (Pelargonium spp.) essential oils for their oxytocin-stimulating properties. Besides the relief they provide, they also smell great!

What is the difference between massage oils and liniments?
In addition to providing lubrication, massage oils can have therapeutic benefits. Some oils, such as lavender, have calming properties that can help to reduce stress and promote relaxation. Our Relaxation Oil is our special house-made blend that has lavender, sweet basil, and ylang ylang to promote relaxation and relieve muscle tension. Our Uplifting blend contains bergamot, rosemary and spearmint and is excellent for stimulating circulation and boosting cognitive function. Our Sore Muscle oil contains herbally-infused oils with arnica and St. John’s wort in addition to a number of essential oils for pain and inflammation.
Now what about Liniments? Liniments are alcohol-based herbal extracts used as topical treatments to relieve pain and inflammation in muscles and joints, promote blood flow and improve circulation, reduce muscle spasms, and more. We have one focused on chronic pain, another for stimulating circulation, as well as one for calming muscle spasms. Our clients often comment on how nice and cooling they feel when applied during a massage.
What is included in massage sessions?
All of these blends are included at no extra charge in our massage sessions. For clients who may be sensitive to scents or allergies to any ingredients we can optionally use our unscented oil which is simply pure natural food-grade coconut oil without any additives or preservatives.
If you’d like to smell any of the blends to choose what you’d like used during your session, just ask your therapist during your intake.
